The ceremony
What happens in the Vivah Sanskar
Acharya ji performs the Vedic wedding and explains the main steps in Hindi and English so the couple, parents, and guests can follow along.
Ganesh Puja & Mandap
We begin in the wedding mandap by worshipping Lord Ganesha to remove any obstacles, with the sacred fire at its centre.
Milni & welcome of the groom
The groom and his family are received with honour by the bride's family — the milni and the madhuparka offering.
Kanyadaan
The bride's parents give her hand in marriage, entrusting the couple to a shared life.
Vivah Homa
Vows are made before Agni, the sacred fire — the eternal witness to the marriage.
Saptapadi
The couple take seven steps together, each one a promise for the life ahead. This is the heart of the Vedic wedding.
Laja Homa & blessings
Offerings of parched grain and the blessings of the elders complete the ceremony.
