The Hindu Society of North America (“HSNA,” “we,” “us”) is a not-for-profit based in Calgary, Alberta. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use hsna.ca, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using this website, contacting us, or donating, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
We only collect what we need to serve you and run our activities.
- When you contact us. If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, the phone number you choose to give, and your message — so we can reply and help you.
- When you volunteer. Our volunteer sign-up is hosted on Google Forms; the details you enter there are collected to coordinate volunteering.
- When you donate. Donations are made by Interac e-Transfer through your own bank. We do not collect or store your credit-card or banking details on this website.
- Automatically, as you browse. Like most websites, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — pages viewed, approximate location (city/region), device and browser type, and how you arrived. It uses cookies and similar technologies and does not identify you by name.
How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- respond to your messages and arrange pujas, events, and volunteering;
- process and acknowledge donations;
- understand how the site is used so we can improve it;
- send you information you have asked us for.
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that make this website work, and only what each one needs. Each handles your information under its own privacy policy:
- Google — Google Analytics (website usage) and Google Forms (volunteer sign-ups).
- Resend — delivers contact-form emails to us.
- Vercel — hosts the website and keeps standard server logs.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics sets cookies to measure how the site is used. You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on, without losing access to the site.
Keeping your information
We keep contact and volunteer information only as long as needed to respond to you and run our activities, then delete it. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s settings.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal information you have given us. Just contact us using the details below and we will help.
Children
Our site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. No method of transmitting data over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep what you share with us safe.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our activities or tools change. We will post the new version on this page with an updated date.
